G for Geranium

I have two different geranium plants in my back garden. I have no idea what species they are, but when they flower I will try to identify them. I have done quick prints on paper using home made iron and copper water as mordants, and the little things print beautifully!

This is watercolour paper so you may get different results on silk, but the inspiration is there 🙂

Copper mordant: Top print is top of leaf
Copper mordant: top print is top of leaf, bottom print is underside of leaf

Iron mordant: top print is top of leaf, bottom print is underside of leaf. On the right there is a faint print of Lesser celandine (Ficaria verna) which is beautifully heart shaped but as you can see didn’t print at all! 🙂
